The Chairman of the Presidential visitation panel to Federal College of Education, Technical, Gusau in Zamfara State, Professor Taoheed Adedoja has declared that traditional rulers are one of the stakeholders in the development of education in the country.
Adedoja, a former Minister of Sports and Special Duties made this disclosure during a visit to the palace of the Emir of Sarkin Katsina Gusau, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Bello.
Our correspondent reports that Adedoja and members of his visitation panel constituted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the FCE Technical, Gusau, were at the palace to solicit the support of the monarch towards the development of the institution.
Adedoja described Nigeria’s traditional rulers as important stakeholders in the development of education in Nigeria.
He said FCE Gusau is the only institution in Africa specifically for the training of women technical teachers, established 32 years ago by the federal government.
He added that the vision of the institution is to encourage women to take up technical and vocational subjects for the Nigeria Certificate in Education, NCE.
The former Provost of the Federal College of Education Special, Oyo in Oyo State, said the College has graduated over five thousand women NCE graduates since its establishment.
He appealed to the monarch to continue to give the necessary support for the development of the College.
The monarch in his reaction, appreciated the composition of the panel by the President and promised to mobilize additional support by all the 17 Emirate councils in the state.
He further pledged that the doors of the palace are always open for the Management of the College for the required synergy between the traditional institutions and the College.
Adedoja who later paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, said that the institution required special attention from the Zamfara State Government.
Matawalle expressed happiness on the composition of the presidential panel headed by Adedoja whom he described with his team as experienced and visionary individuals capable.
