Five suspected internet fraudsters, known as ‘Yahoo boys’ have been arrested by the Ilorin Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Ilorin the Kwara State capital.
DAILY POST reports that the suspects were arrested at the Ilorin International Airport on Monday following an intelligence report.
The zonal media office of the agency, in a statement on Tuesday identified the suspects as, Oladosun Olakunmi Olamilekan, Olaoye Jamiu Olarewaju, Alimi Abiodun, Toheed Murtala and Afolabi Kamaldeen.
The arrest, according to the anti-graft agency, was sequel to an intelligence report by the commission about the arrival of the suspects who flew from Lagos to Ilorin on Monday.
The anti-graft agency disclosed that four of the suspects are students of Kwara state University, KWASU, while one is a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
Items recovered from them include a Mercedes Benz C300, phones and laptop.
The agency said the suspects who have confessed to the crime, have also volunteered useful statements to the agency and would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
